Passion of the Heist is I Am Abomination’s second EP, released on July 19, 2011, through Good Fight Music. The only non-singing vocals on the record are performed by guest vocalist Caleb Shomo of Beartooth, in the song “Ascension.”
The album name itself is a play on the name of Mel Gibson’s film The Passion of the Christ from 2004, and it’s a concept album about Jesus' last hours, only the twist is that the famous events (his ascension to the heavens, his resurrection, judgment day etc.) are all orchestrated by an alien race—or “the gods.”
The song “Abduction” starts the story with the alien race arriving on Earth and abducting Jesus. At this point he realizes that the end of mankind is near. “Examination” and “Transformation” both explain how these aliens perform experiments on Jesus that ultimately cost him his life. Eventually he’s resurrected as an agent of this alien race in the form of an enhanced and emotionless non-human being. Jesus then returns to Earth to bring about the judgment day. In both “Transformation” and “Ascension,” Jesus has now embraced his immortal form and the new-found freedom that came with it, as well as the alien ship in the sky—or “heaven"—that he now calls his home. Jesus, or "the chosen one,” will spearhead the creation of another race on another suitable planet at the expense of human life on Earth. “Invasion” ends the album by depicting the aliens purging the planet of all humans before they can spread further, claiming that they had their chance to be good to each other and to take care of the home provided to them by the alien overlords.
We set the stage, but like the termites that you were, you ate away at the home we provided. We rid of the virus before it spread. We are the saviors. With the chosen one we shall move forth with the idea. The successors will be given life without eyes. For their ancestors never opened theirs.
A sequel to the album was released on April 24, 2020, and was aptly titled Passion of the Heist II. As Passion of the Heist ended just before the invasion, Passion of the Heist II describes the events that followed.
