Blue Cheer About

Blue Cheer is an acid rock band whose sound laid the foundation for heavy metal, as well as influencing punk and grunge.

Named after a popular variety of LSD, the power trio was founded by bassist Dickie Peterson in 1967. Their biggest song was a definitive cover of Eddie Cochran’s song Summertime Blues, with the spoken lines replaced by growling guitar, a track sometimes described as the first heavy metal song.
