Morningsiders About

New York City-based band Morningsiders crafts melodic, narrative indie folk alternately tinged with bluegrass, jazz, and pop.
Led by Magnus Ferguson (vocals/guitar) and Reid Jenkins (fiddle/vocals), the group formed at Columbia University in 2012. Their song Empress, in addition to being featured in a Starbucks commercial, went viral in 2015 and topped Spotify’s Viral 50. The band’s first EP, ‘unfocus,’ demonstrates an impressionistic Americana sound that emphasizes harmonies, folk instrumentation, and unconventional percussion.
