The Plastic Constellations About
The Plastic Constellations were an indie rock band from Minneapolis active from 1996 to 2008. Their lineup remained constant throughout their twelve years: bassist Jordan Roske, guitarist/vocalist Aaron Mader (aka Lazerbeak of Doomtree), drummer Matt Scharenbroich, and guitarist/vocalist Jeff Allen.
TPC’s sound is rhythm forward, sharing similarities with bands like Lifter Puller and Ten Grand, bringing elements of hip hop into a post-punk/hardcore sound.
TPC began when the members met at Hopkins High School and played their first show a year later at First Avenue at the age of 15, after Mader gave a cassette demo to Craig Finn (The Hold Steady), then the frontman of legendary Twin Cities indie band Lifter Puller.
They released four albums and two EPs before announcing an “indefinite hiatus” in 2008 and performing a farewell show on April 19th of that year. In January 2010, TPC played a single reunion show at the Cedar Cultural Center.
Mader continues to write and perform music as central producer of the powerhouse hip hop group Doomtree. Allen has since begun releasing solo music under the name Tyte Jeff.
