Bad Nylon About
Founded in late 2014, Bad Nylon is a Montreal-based female hip-hop collective originally composed of Dgirl Dozen, JazzyGee, Mart Ah, la Wanagain and Marie-Gold.
Unlike Salt-N-Pepa, another female-only hip-hop group, Bad Nylon produces their own beats. Thus, the Montreal group stands out and attracts attention in the rap scene québ ’. In 2015, they released two EP's: Brunch Music and The Second Set.
After a two-year hiatus, Bad Nylon publishes Girl Gang and Rappa on YouTube, introduces their new members and announces their debut album. Indeed, Marie-Gold is the only one of the original group to continue the project. Joining her are DJ Audrey Bélanger, Kayiri and NeoZOZ, who had previously collaborated with the group for Happy Meal.
Their album, Baby, You're Unique, was released in 2018. Two weeks later, the band announced the end of the project on their Facebook page:
As they put it in an interview with Le Devoir, rappers have always experienced hate, including sexist comments, as well as a lack of seriousness on the part of Quebec's hip-hop community. In fact, the P.C.G. deals directly with this and the quartet attacks its detractors.
