Satyajit Ray About
Satyajit Ray (1921-1992) is widely considered to be one of the 20th century’s greatest filmmakers. Born to an artistic and literary family in Calcutta (Kolkata), he was inspired to become a filmmaker by a visit to London, where he met Jean Renoir. His deliberately paced films are often praised for their warmth and keen insight into character.
In addition to his filmmaking career, he also wrote fiction and made advances in the art of calligraphy. He composed music for many of his own films.
